學校概況：
馬來西亞博特拉大學(UPM)曾經是一所農業大學，自1931年成立以來，致力於傳統農學，經歷近一百年的發展，在馬國高等教育部授予改制為研究型大學後，大學除了努力推動多元化的課程，也協助國家農業產業的發展，使農業成為第三大驅動力，成功促進國家經濟發展，如今成為一所家喻戶曉的高等教育機構，提供國際認可的學士、碩士及博士課程。目前博大於沙登的主校區，加上民都魯、砂拉越和東馬分校總招收約29,000名學生，包括來自72多的國家的國際學生及一千多名交換學生。

學校歷史背景：
馬來西亞博特拉大學(UPM)成立於1931年，當時是一所農業學校(School of Agriculture)，一開始提供三年制文憑與一年制農學證書課程。到了1947年馬來亞聯邦總督愛德華·真特爵士將其校改名為馬來亞農業大學(College of Agriculture Malaya)，經過了1971年後，與馬來亞大學的農業學院合併成為馬來西亞農業大學(Universiti Pertanian Malaysia)，擁有一所通識學院及三所專業學院（獸醫與動物科學學院、林業學院、農學院），於1973年首次招生了1,559名學生，80年代初研究領域更擴展至科學技術領域。
1997年四月三日，前首相馬哈地·穆罕默德將大學更名為馬來西亞博特拉大學(Universiti Putra Malaysia)，“Putra”一詞取自於馬來西亞第一任首相東姑阿都拉曼(Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj)，另一個原因是這所學校位置靠近布城(Putrajaya)，校方借更名宣揚自己高等教育學府的地位，力求在學術上能有更多元的發展，特別是技術領域。這所學校從1931年到至今，從一所小型農業學校轉變為如今國際聞名的研究型大學，博大現在提供不僅是文憑與學士學位，還有碩士及博士學位。

馬來西亞博特拉大學(UPM)的主校區位於雪蘭莪州沙登。
馬來西亞是由十三個州與三的聯邦直轄區所組成，雪蘭莪州位於馬來西亞半島中部，簡稱雪州，雪州大部分土地受到開發，擁有許多購物中心和精品店，但在海岸線及雨林地帶，您仍能見到充滿異國情調的原始森林及海灘，甚至是神秘洞穴，讓該州成為馬國最現代化，卻有著不拘一格風格的州。自1974年，吉隆坡從雪州被劃分出來，成為獨立的直轄區，現在該州的首府為莎阿南(Shah Alam)。
沙登(Serdang)是雪州的一個城鎮，又被廣泛稱為史里肯邦安(Seri Kembangan)。該鎮於1950年代成立，當時命名為沙登新村，以製鞋、印刷排版業和家庭代工業聞名，如今已經發展成交通便利的城鎮，由於位置近主要高速公路，如南北大道、新街場大道及隆芙大道，不少企業家、商人及公務員雖在鄰近大城市上班，卻選擇在沙登居住。
UPM位置近國家體育委員會，校內擁有奧林匹克比賽規格的游泳池和網球場，所在的沙登有三家主要的購物中心，近年來隨著人口和經濟發展的上升，當地教育水平也逐步提升。
